Go-Live Announcement:

Oldcastle Infrastructure Transforms Quoting and Order Management with Salesforce, Logik.io, and Pierce Washington

We are pleased to announce our supplier partnership with Oldcastle Infrastructure, the leading provider of infrastructure solutions for Water, Communications and Energy in North America. Oldcastle Infrastructure has completed the first phase of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) transformation project, which aims to remodel its quoting and order management processes. This achievement not only marks our first project with Oldcastle Infrastructure, but the company’s approach to the project establishes a new standard for how manufacturers can connect and do business with their customers.

About Oldcastle Infrastructure

Oldcastle Infrastructure specializes in delivering high-quality building materials and infrastructure solutions. With a broad product portfolio and operations spread across North America, Oldcastle Infrastructure faced the challenge of standardizing processes and technology across its business.

Challenges and Objectives:

Like many national manufacturers, Oldcastle Infrastructure had a complex environment with over 12 disparate quoting applications and varying processes. Its main objective was to modernize the tech stack while establishing a unique approach to how the company connects and does business with its customers.

One unique challenge for this project included a side-by-side rollout of the organization’s migration from multiple ERPs to SAP S/4HANA. Another was solving for how to standardize the various quoting and internal processes used within Oldcastle Infrastructure’s manufacturing locations nationwide.

Specific objectives included consolidating and standardizing quoting and pricing into a single, unified solution for every location, streamlining the sales lifecycle by integrating order management and demand planning, and automating the engineering drawing process with 3D CAD technology to reduce manual processing times from days to minutes.

The Solution:

Pierce Washington worked hand-in-hand with the Oldcastle Infrastructure team to provide a comprehensive solution that addressed its needs by implementing modern technologies and end-to-end business processes. The solution included designing and implementing Salesforce CPQ and Logik.io to create streamlined and unified product configurations and pricing across the entire organization.  This included leveraging Logik.io to auto-generate a Bill of Materials (BOM) based on the configuration, ensuring pricing and product accuracy.

Salesforce CPQ was selected as the project’s backbone technology after a rigorous evaluation and tool selection process due to its flexibility, scalability, and ease of use post-implementation. This platform will allow Oldcastle Infrastructure to have a seamless self-service user interface for customers and employees while still integrating with SAP for complete end-to-end quotes and orders.

One of the biggest improvements to the sales and quoting process was the addition of real-time CAD rendering, which will be available to all sites at the conclusion of each phase. Customers can now receive automated engineering drawings from sites that have completed the project. Previously, this process could take days to complete, but it can now be done in minutes, increasing the speed and accuracy of quotes.

Tools and technologies used in the project included Salesforce, Logik.io, MuleSoft, SAP S/4HANA, Avalara, Conga, and Gearset. The overall solution streamlined Oldcastle Infrastructure’s tech stack landscape, improved its ability to generate timely and accurate quotes, and significantly enhanced self-service capabilities for customers, employees, and partners.

Looking Ahead:

We are excited to see the initial Oldcastle Infrastructure sites go live and anticipate rolling out the solution to additional sites over the next 17 months.  Working with Pierce Washington’s pwFlexSupport team will ensure a smooth nationwide rollout and ongoing optimizations as Oldcastle Infrastructure grows. Key Oldcastle stakeholders in this project included Jason Jackson, President, Oldcastle Infrastructure; Rick Smith, CIO; Meagan Boson, VP of Business Performance; and Amy Arendt, IT Director – Business Solutions, who all played a crucial role in guiding the transformation.

This project marks a pivotal operational system transition for the company. We look forward to further successes and continued collaboration with Oldcastle Infrastructure!
