The following post comes from Will Willard who worked with our team in London in the summer of 2017 through our engineering internship program.
Moving from southern California to London, my biggest shock was the weather, and although I thought I was ready for it, it was still a surprise. In all honesty, it was actually nice to be away from the heat for a while. The office is located near central London, which was a big benefit to working for Pierce Washington. The surrounding area has a unique atmosphere and many diverse restaurants that allowed me to explore the culture of London during my free time.
The small, intimate, and friendly workplace enabled me to connect with my coworkers over the course of my 3-month internship. I worked very closely with coworkers who mentored me by providing training and answering questions. This was a tremendous help in terms of familiarizing myself with the more intricate components of Oracle CPQ. It was a pleasure to work with such an amazing group of talented individuals.
While I began knowing very little about Oracle CPQ, as the summer comes to a close I completed a full Asset Management process demo in CPQ, and feel very comfortable working with the Oracle CPQ application. Thanks to the challenging work I completed during the internship program, I also bettered my organization, time management and communication skills. Finally, completing the demo and preparing the content for demonstration to prospects and clients was rewarding and one of the largest accomplishments of my young career.
As I reflect on my time here at Pierce Washington, I am thankful for the opportunity to experience a new city, learn directly through mentorship from industry experts, and gain hands-on experience and skills that can be applied to any software development position. All in all, it was an unforgettable internship, and I am very pleased to have spent my summer with Pierce Washington.
